Network configuration for installed BlastIQ applications

The BlastIQ applications installed on the tablet and desktop computers communicate securely with the BlastIQ cloud. In order to operate correctly, the environment the software are running in and any network equipment must be configured to allow communication to the following domains:

Orica managed Domains:

If your whitelist allows wild card domains, we recommend allowing the following:

  • *.blastiq.com
  • *.orica.com
  • *.orica.net
  • *.ocblasting.com

If your whitelist requires specific domains, whitelist all of the following:

  • id.blastiq.com
  • api.blastiq.com
  • downloads.blastiq.com
  • support.blastiq.com
  • status.blastiq.com

Time Synchronisation

It is critical that devices running BlastIQ software maintain an accurate device time for log-in, data synchronisation and data accuracy. A device that is not configured to synchronise with a time server will experience clock drift and, after a period of use, start to experience errors with the use of BlastIQ.

If a device is not configured to use a local network time server, the time server configured on your Windows 10 device needs to be whitelisted. (default time.windows.com UDP 123).

We occasionally use TeamViewer for remote support.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth consumption by the BlastIQ system is generally low and intermittent. Engineers uploading blast plans (files) will cause a small burst of traffic as the relevant data is downloaded to each BlastIQ mobile device. This process is generally only performed 1-3 times per day in a typical usage pattern. Each time BlastIQ mobile is used to record data by a user, small business event messages are transmitted.

  • Design download burst (~20MB) on engineer issuing plan (~1-3 per day to each device)
  • Business event message (~50KB) on hole measurement/ update (~1-3 per minute per active device)

Our recommended minimum Internet Connection is 1Mbps up/down, with 500ms maximum latency measured to Singapore using speedtest.net. BlastIQ Insights will provide a better user experience with bandwidth above 5Mbps download.
