KBA Summary:

This Knowledge Base Article describes the functionality of the Blast Management in BlastIQ™ Insights.

Summary

Blast Management allows users with write access to enter and edit blast details such as: Fire Date, Tags, KPIs and Blast Notes through the BlastIQ™ Insights application. It also allows users to delete and un-delete blasts.

Tag Categories, Tags and KPIs for a site can be configured by site admins in the Admin Portal. For more information on Tags and KPIs please refer to How to Configure and Enter Blast Tags and How to Configure and Enter Blast KPIs.

Filters

Blasts can be filtered using the following filters:

  1. Group Filter

    • Allows users to toggle between two views and available for Underground sites.
      • By Blast: Displays all the blasts existing to site.
      • By Blast Group Name: Displays grouped blast data.
    • Search by 'Blast Name' option available for Surface.
    • Blasts shown are the one containing the typed in characters.

  2. Search Field:

    • Dynamically adjusts based on the selected filter:
      • When By Blasts is selected, use the search field to search for a particular blast.
      • When By Plan Group Name is selected, use the search field to search for a particular group.
    • Search by 'Blast Plan Group Name' option available for Underground only.

  3. Blast Status Filter:

    • Select : All, Fired or Not Fired.

  4. Date Range filter:

    • Select Created or Fired Date.
    • From and To fields are not mandatory.
    • If date range filter is not used the blasts shown are the latest created/fired for the site.
    • Maximum number of blasts shown is based on the Display Filter.

  5. Elevation filter:

    • Applies for Surface only
    • Choose a minimum and/or a maximum elevation.
    • Select Collar or Grade.
    • If elevation filter is not used the blasts shown any elevation range.
    • Maximum number of blasts shown is based on the Display Filter.

  6. Tags filter:

    • Click on the Tags icon.
    • Select the desired tags from each category.
    • Click Apply to apply the filter criteria.
    • Site Map will return the blasts containing the selected tags based on the following logic:
      • OR for tags within the same category.
      • AND for tags across categories.
    • Click on Clear and then Apply to clear all tags filters.
    • Click on the X on the top right to close the tags filter by , any edits to the filter criteria will be lost if not previously applied.

  7. Clear All filters - clears any filters that have been applied.

  8. Display selection:

    • Choose 20, 30, 60, 90, 250, 500 and Newest or Oldest blasts from the dropdown list.
    • This dictates the limit of blasts that are shown from other filters criteria and whether these blasts are picked from oldest first or newest first.

  9. Include Deleted Blasts

    • Tick the checkbox to include all deleted blasts.
    • Only the blast search and display number are active while other filter functions are disabled.

  1. On the 'Blast Management' page, click on the '+Add' button.

  2. Choose a file or drag and drop a file.
  3. The blast name will be automatically populated with the file name (excluding the extension).
    • To change the blast name, simply delete the pre-filled name and enter a new one.
  4. Tick the checkbox should you want to create a blast without using hole details information.
  5. Click the 'Create' button to complete the process.

  • The site must have a Blast Control or Blast Management license.
  • A user with write/admin access can create a blast. 
  • The hole information file will be a .csv containing only hole geometry data, initially replicating the DfO's data and format.
Fire Date

  1. Once a blast is selected, the Fire Date tab for that blast is opened by default.
  2. Type in or use the date picker to select a specific date and time. The date and time (in the site's time zone) when the page was loaded are displayed by default.
  3. Click "Fire" to set the fire date for the blast. This will archive the blast on all BlastIQ™ field devices.

  1. Click "Clear".
  2. Confirm by clicking the 'Yes' button.
Plan Refresh (UG only)
Refreshing a plan makes it available for data input in BlastIQ™ Mobile once the number of days since its creation exceeds the build window configured on the devices. This process effectively re-enables plans that have disappeared from Mobile because they are considered too “old” to receive new data.
The refresh action is initiated from the Fire Date section.
 
  1. Select the desired blast, then click on the 'Refresh' button.
  1. In the following screen, confirm the action by clicking the 'Yes' button.
  1. The blast will be refreshed and the 'Last refreshed date' will be updated.

Notes:

  • The 'Refresh' button will be disabled in the following cases:
    • The plan was modified within the last 48 hours.
    • The plan was refreshed within the last 14 days.
    • The plan has been fired.
    • The plan has been deleted.
  • When you hover over an inactive 'Refresh' button, a tooltip will display the reason it is disabled.

  • This is available only for the site admin users.

  1. Click "Delete".
  2. Confirm.

Tags

  1. Select the "Tags" Tab.
  2. Click "Edit".

  1. Click on the edit box or the down arrow for a specific Tag Category, a drop-down list will appear with the available Tags.
  2. Select the desired Tag(s).
  3. Remove Tags by clicking on the 'x' icon of a particular Tag.
  4. Or the 'X' on the right of the edit box to clear all Tags for that Tag Category.
  5. Click "Save" to save the changes.

  1. Click on the "KPIs" tab.
  2. Click on "Edit" to modify or enter a new KPI value.
  3. Click on the trash icon to 'delete' any existing value.

  1. Type the desired numeric values for each specific KPI.
  2. Click "Save" to save the changes.

After Selecting a Blast:

  1. Click on the "Notes" tab.
  2. Click on "Refresh" get the latest view of the Blast Notes log.
  3. Click on "Add" to log a new entry.

After clicking on "Add":

  1. Type in the desired text. Maximum 1000 characters per entry.
  2. Click on "Save". Please allow up to 2 minutes for new Notes to appear in the log.
History

After Selecting a Blast:

  1. Click on the "History" tab.
    • Provides a full, auditable history of blast events-showing what happened, when it occurred, and who performed each action.
Site Permission
Read role:
  • All buttons are hidden.  

Write / Admin role:

  • Actionable buttons:
    • Rename, Fire/Unfire, Delete/Undelete, Refresh, Add tags, kpis, and notes.
