BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop - Import and push LOADPlus™ data

Application:
BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop
Version:
1.2.9 and above
KBA Summary:
This KBA will describe how to use BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop to push LOADPlus™ data to BlastIQ™. This article is applicable to current generation (non-4D™) delivery systems.

Background

Orica's underground explosive systems, powered by LOADPlus™, are able to generate a CSV file that contains the records of explosives loaded on a hole-by-hole basis. The CSV file will contain:

  • The blast name, as entered by the charge-up operator;
  • A hole identifier, as entered by the charge-up operator which typically contains a combination of the ring number and hole number;
  • The product name, typically referring to the density of the product only;
  • Hole length, captured when the operator "toes" the hole on the LPU interface;
  • Charge length, which is the final gassed charge length as entered by the operator from the charge plan or BlastIQ™ mobile tablet; and
  • Charge weight, as recorded by the LOADPlus™ system.

This data cannot be exported to BlastIQ™ directly from the LOADPlus™ units. Users have to download the files from the system and import them into the BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop application.

Description

Users are now able to use BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop to upload LOADPlus™ data to BlastIQ™. When users import LOADPlus™ data, BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop will:

  1. Read the file and ensure that the blast name in the file matches a blast loaded into the application,
  2. Push hole measurements to BlastIQ™ directly from the application, and then
  3. Push actuals to BlastIQ™ directly from the application.

Once completed, data is available to be used in BlastIQ™ Insights, BlastIQ™ Mobile and BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop.

Requirements

The following requirements must be met in order to push LOADPlus™ data to BlastIQ™ from BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop:

  • The Blast ID in the .csv file must exactly match the plan name in BlastIQ™. The LOADPlus™ Blast ID is read from cell B1. For example:
  • The product names in the LOADPlus™ file, in column B, must exactly match the products assigned to the BlastIQ™ the user working on.
  • Hole ID naming convention must be [RingID][HoleID], where RingID is R### and HoleID is H###.
  • If product names contain special characters, for example Subtek™ 0.8, the file will need to be saved as CSV UTF-8. This can be done by:
    1. Opening the file in Excel and going to File > Save As
    2. Selecting the "CSV UTF-8" file type from the drop down list.
    3. Selecting "Save"
Underground LOADPlus™ data in BlastIQ™

In order to match the correct data with the correct hole, the BlastIQ™ blast plan must already exist and be loaded into the BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop application. The application will then parse the ring and hole ID from the "Hole ID" column in the CSV file, assuming the following naming convention: [RingID][HoleID], where RingID is R### and HoleID is H###.

Hole length measurements are sent to BlastIQ™ with the following data:

  • Hole length is the value denoted for the hole in the "Toe (m)" column.
  • Time Occurred is the date and time at which the data is posted from BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop.
  • User is the full name of the licensed user of BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop.
  • Equipment and Device will be "Desktop-LPU".

Deck actuals are sent to BlastIQ™ with the following data:

  • Charge length is the value denoted for the hole in the "Length(m)" column
  • Charge weight is the value denoted for the hole in the "Weight(kg)" column
  • Charge horizon is the calculated value for the hole, using the following formula: charge horizon = hole length - charge length.
  • Deck Product name is the string in the "Product Name" column for the hole row.

  Information

If a hole does not have a "Toe" value or the value is zero, BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop will not send a hole length measurement, charge length or charge horizon. Holes will still have a charge weight.

Instructions

Users can use BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop to push LOADPlus™ actuals by:

  1. Check that the blast to be updated is already loaded into BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop. Either:
    1. Navigate to the Project Manager sidebar and expand the Blasts list to view all blasts loaded into the application.
    2. Load the blast into the application if required by navigating to Project > BlastIQ™. Search for the blast, download and add to project.
  2. Navigate to Project > Import  > LOADPlus™ Actuals CSV.
  3. Select "Browse" to find and select the file in the browser dialog box.
  4. Select "Open" to load the file.
  5. In the sidebar, the file path will be shown. If BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop can read the file and has not found any errors, the "Import and Push Actuals" button will become available. Select the "Import and Push Actuals" to push the data to BlastIQ™.
  6. The sidebar will close and a notification will be displayed indicating success of import.
  7. The LOADPlus™ data will now be available on BlastIQ™ Insights and synced BlastIQ™ Mobile devices.
  8. To see the LOADPlus™ data in BlastIQ™ Underground Desktop:
    1. Navigate to data table for the blast by selecting the folder icon next to the blast name in the Project Manager.
    2. "Pull" data from BlastIQ™, via the BlastIQ™ button.
  9. LOADPlus™ data will now be visible in the data table.
