This dashboard aims to provide an overview of the difference between drilling design and actual drilled hole length. Drill hole length is one of the contributing factors in blast performance related to the final excavated volume, digging rates, and smoothness of the next level bench surface. Using this dashboard can help identify both isolated events and systemic implementation issues.
Dashboard Components
- Select a Blast – Choose a Blast from the drop-down list. Users can type in to search the desired blast.
- Take a Snapshot – Generate a summary Blast report for the selected Blast. To learn more, click here.
- System of Measurement – Choose to display value on Metric or Imperial units.
- Blast Plan View - displaying an area per hole coloured according to the hole compliance, in the case of over and under drilled holes, the greater the length difference the darker shade the colour will be (see the colour legend). To learn more, click here.
- Mouse Over the holes to get further information.
- Click on a hole to highlight the hole cross section Bar Chart.
- Summary Statistics - displaying the Blast’s % Compliance and other helpful statistics.
- Scroll vertically to see all information.
- Hole Cross Section Bar Chart - displaying each hole's actual cross section, using the latest actual information available, compared to the design collar, grade and toe elevations marked by lines and an X respectively. The user can click and drag horizontally to scroll through all the holes in the blast.
- Scroll horizontally to navigate through all blast holes.
- Histogram – displays the count of holes for each deviation range in the Y axis and absolute deviation units in the X axis.
- Click and drag horizontally to zoom in, double click to reset zoom.
- When multiple tolerances are used, a stacked histogram will be shown which will indicate how many of a given deviation range are within tolerance
- Box Plot– displays the drilling length deviation distribution of the blast. Click here to learn more about this type of chart.
- Click and drag horizontally to zoom in, double click to reset zoom.
- When multiple tolerances are used, the box plot will remain, but no single tolerance will be displayed via tolerance lines or colour gradients.
- Hole Table – located below the other dashboard components, displays one hole on each row and columns with relevant information.
- If using site level tolerances to evaluate the deviation, the tolerance values will be displayed in italics font. If using hole level tolerances, the values will be un-formatted.

Each hole is evaluated based on the following formula:

Latest Actual Length = Measured Length, or Drill Actual Length if Measured Length is not available.
Latest Design Length = Adjusted Design Length, or Design Length if Adjusted Design Length is not available.
Length Difference is calculated for each hole, hence marking the hole as one of the following:
- Within Tolerance – if the Length Difference does not exceed any of the drilling length tolerances (over or under).
- Over drilled – if the Length Difference is positive and exceeds the site’s Over Drill tolerance.
- Under drilled – if the Length Difference is negative and its absolute value exceeds the site’s Under Drill tolerance.
- or, No Data – There is no sufficient data to run the analysis. E.g. the hole has an actual length but no design length (these hole might have been added in the field).

This dashboard accepts the Over-drill or Under-drill Tolerances defined in and exported from SHOTPlus™.
SHOTPlus™ 6 > Edit > Design Data > Edit Tolerances
When no hole type tolerance is specified, the dashboard uses the site level Over or Under Drill Length Reporting Tolerances defined in the Admin Portal.
Any changes to the site level tolerances in the Admin Portal will apply to all single blast dashboards across the site (not previously created reports). To learn more about Reporting Tolerances, click here.
